Dear all,
IITC and a few other Indigenous representative organizations participated in these negotiations in Geneva, together with the States. We were able to get strong language on Treaty Rights, International Repatriation Mechanisms, Participation of Indigenous Peoples’ “representative institutions” (governments, Treaty councils, Traditional Authorities, Indigenous Parliaments etc.), human rights defenders, Indigenous languages, climate change, violence against Indigenous women and many other important issues.
Regards,
