This Independent Forum for Indigenous Peoples was established during our struggle to achieve effective participation in the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) in 2021. Its focus has been information sharing and discussion of strategies to strengthen the self-determined participation of Indigenous Peoples in UN bodies impacting our Food Systems, Food Sovereignty and Right to Food. The 7th meeting of the Forum was held on January 28, 2023. Since that time several important international meetings and conferences have taken place and organizing has taken place for UN and Indigenous Peoples’ Food Sovereignty gatherings. Updates at this meeting will include:
- UNFCCC SBSTA 58 & COP 28: CLIMATE CHANGE-RELATED LOSS & DAMAGE
- CONVENTION ON BIO-DIVERSITY COP 15: 30 x 30 & ARTICLE 8J
- WORK WITH UNFAO: PESTICIDES CODE OF CONDUCT, GLOBAL PRE-FORUM
- UN WATER CONFERENCE & INDIGENOUS PEOPLES PRE-SUMMIT
