Pacific Food Sovereignty & Traditional Knowledge Conference

I kune mai Hawaiki, ki te kune kai, ki te kune tangata
The source (kune) of all things valuable that migrated to Aotearoa

Those valuable things are people, knowledge, culture, traditional practices; hunting, fishing,
growing and preparing food.

The focus of the conference is adaption, solutions and mitigation to climate
change based on traditional knowledge and practice for food sovereignty and
traditional food systems. The perpetuation of Indigenous identities and cultures in
the face of climate caused migration.

Starts: 10:30am Monday, 4 February 2019 — Begins with Pōwhiri at 10:30am
Ends: 7:30pm Tuesday, 5 February 2019 — Accommodation available for night
Where: Takahiwai Marae, 229 Takahiwai Road, Takahiwai, Aotearoa New Zealand
Cost: $65 NZD – for all or part of the conference, includes meals and accommodation at the marae
Accommodation: Is available at the marae, you must register & bring your own bedding
If you are coming from overseas, please let us know and we will source bedding for you.
Extra optional activity: 9:30am Wednesday, 6 February 2019, breakfast, clean up, leave marae.
Visit to Waitangi you are welcome to accompany us, no transport or meals provided.
